Jesus Jenga

Do you know the game Jenga? It’s the one with the blocks… you stack them up to form a tower and then remove as many blocks as you can without the tower falling. As you play the game you find out which blocks are pivotal to the whole structure. Remove one of the essential blocks, and the whole thing comes tumbling down.

We each have our pivotal blocks – parts of us that stack up to form our whole being. Think of them as physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual building blocks. To have each in place is to have the Jenga definition of health and wholeness. But without all the essential blocks in place, life is just a mess of blocks on the floor.

When we think of alleviating poverty, we tend to think of just one block – the physical availability of food, clothing, and shelter. But it takes more than one block to build the whole. Without education, relationships, and a healthy sense of one’s connection to the universe, the tower comes tumbling down.

Unruly Hope is asking for Likes on its Facebook page, and for each Like we will give $1 to  Wesley Chapel Mission Center in Over-the-Rhine. Each Like helps with the physical stuff for WCMC – things like toys, food, staffing and facilities. Your Facebook Likes and Shares can be pivotal building blocks.

At WCMC, every volunteer and every family in OTR can also find mental, emotional and spiritual building blocks through education and loving relationships built on the foundational love of Jesus Christ. That’s the WCMC definition of health and wholeness; all the essential building blocks moving into place.

Stop by sometime! You might even get to play Jenga.
